On Wednesday 7 October 2026, Hewlett Packard Enterprise brought customers, partners and its own teams together for HPE Networking Day Sydney at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf. The afternoon event focused on where enterprise networking is heading, with HPE Networking's global leadership in the room.
Rocco joined the event to move through the crowd, greet attendees and give guests a reason to stop and talk between sessions and stand visits.
The Event
HPE Networking Day Sydney was a partner and customer event run by HPE Networking ANZ. Matthew Ieraci, ANZ Sales Leader at HPE Financial Services, described it on LinkedIn as "a packed house on the harbour", with customers, partners and colleagues in one room. HPE Networking's global leaders, Rami Rahim, Sujai Hajela and Sudheer Matta, travelled to Sydney to share their vision for the business.
Events like this run on conversations. Attendees move between keynotes, partner stands and networking time, and the organiser's job is to keep energy up and give people natural reasons to start talking.
What Rocco Did
Rocco's role was simple: work the room. With a trained operator alongside him, Rocco moved through the venue and greeted a crowd of technology buyers, partners and HPE staff.
Matthew closed his post by thanking everyone who visited the HPE Financial Services stand, along with Rocco for "working the room".
Why a Humanoid Robot Fits a Technology Event
A networking event for IT leaders has a specific problem. Everyone in the room has seen plenty of slides about AI and automation. A humanoid robot in the room is different. Guests can see how it moves, how big it is and how it behaves around people, and they usually have an opinion they want to share.
That makes Rocco a useful conversation starter for technology brands:
- It fits the theme. A Unitree G1 humanoid robot is a physical example of the hardware and AI progress attendees are already discussing.
- It moves. Rocco is not a static display, so he can reach guests across the venue rather than waiting at one stand.
- It creates content. Guests take photos and share them, which extends the event online.
Planning a Robot Appearance at a Corporate Technology Event
If you are running a partner day, customer summit or product briefing, these are the details to plan early:
- Decide the role. Arrivals, networking breaks, a stage walk-on or a sponsor stand each need a different plan.
- Share the run sheet. Rocco's operator works around speeches, catering and venue movement.
- Confirm access and space. Harbourside and function venues often have specific loading and bump-in windows. Our robot event venue checklist covers what to confirm.
- Agree any greetings or branding in advance so they suit your event.
