Rocco helped welcome guests into an Amazon Web Services tech summit in Sydney. He greeted attendees, posed for photos beside AWS service display cubes and gave people a reason to stop and talk.

The Brief

Technology summits are crowded with screens, booths and talks. A welcome moment at the entrance needs to stand out to an audience that works with cloud, data and AI every day.

A humanoid robot fits that brief. It is a physical, moving example of where AI and robotics are heading, and it gives attendees something to react to before the first session begins.

What Happened on the Day

Rocco, a Unitree G1 humanoid robot, was operated by our trained team throughout the appearance. He:

RobotForHire founder Dante Crea went in expecting people to be curious about the technology. What he saw was guests connecting with Rocco, and Rocco starting conversations between complete strangers.

Why It Worked

The robot matched the audience. Cloud and AI professionals are used to software demos. A humanoid robot walking the floor shows the physical side of AI, which is why guests wanted to ask questions rather than just take a picture.

Branding stayed with AWS. Rocco was photographed beside AWS's own service cubes, so the photos guests took and shared carried the AWS brand.

It worked as an icebreaker. Attendees at a large summit often don't know each other. A robot gives strangers something to talk about, which makes networking easier for everyone.

Planning a Robot at Your Tech Event

For conferences, partner summits and technology showcases, the best results come from planning:

  1. Pick the moments. Door greetings, a keynote walk-on and networking breaks work well.
  2. Use your brand props. Rocco can pose with display cubes, product samples or signage, and can wear event-branded clothing.
  3. Plan photo spots near your backdrop so shared photos carry your branding.
  4. Brief the operator on your run sheet and any approved greeting lines.

Read the robot activation run sheet guide for a step-by-step plan.
